Water Rates

Water service for residents living inside the city limits

•  A minimum charge of $46 for the first one thousand gallons per month or any part thereof.

•  An additional $2.78 per month for each additional one thousand gallons, or any part thereof, above one thousand gallons.

Water service for residents living outside the city limits

•  A minimum charge of $50.82 for the first one thousand gallons per month or any part thereof.

•  An additional $3.12 per month for each additional one thousand gallons, or any part thereof, above one thousand gallons.

Sewer Rates

Sewer chargers for residents living inside the city limits

•  A minimum charge of $25.00 for the first one thousand gallons of water used per month or any part thereof.

•  An additional $3.40 per month for each additional one thousand gallons of water used, or any part thereof, above one thousand gallons of water used.  

Sewer charges service for residents living outside the city limits

•  A minimum charge of $30.50 for the first one thousand gallons per month or any part thereof.   

•  An additional $3.40 per month for each additional one thousand gallons of water used, or any part thereof, above one thousand gallons of water used.  

Sewer rates for both in city limits and outside city limits will be effective through the billing of the base months of October, November, December, January, February, and March.  For the billings April 1st through the September 1st the sewer service charge to customers with year around residence outside the city limits of the City of Nortonville will be an average of the rates for the base months as established each new year.  All other customers who do not have a full year of residence will be billed according to the water used for all months.

Trash Rates

•  The monthly collection fee for each residential household is $14.87.  There is a 10% discount for senior citizens $13.38 (all residents in the home must be over 62 years of age)

•  Cost for additional carts is $3.00 per tippy cart.  

Water Deposit Information                          Water Deposit Form

• Water deposit for a home owner is $100
• Water deposit for a renter is $150.      
• Water deposit must be made before water service is turned on.

Refunding of Deposits

• Home owner's deposits will be refunded after 12 consecutive monthly payments.
• Renter's deposits will be refunded upon moving out of the city limits.

Utility Billing Information

• Utility bills are mailed out on the last business day of the month.  
• Residents are responsible for receiving their utility bills.  
• Utility bills are due by the 20th of each month

Delinquent Account Information

• Late fee of 10% of the amount outstanding will be added to accounts on the 21st of the month or the first business day following the 21st.
• Reminder notices will be mailed on postcards to accounts that have an outstanding balance of more than $10.00 on the 21st of each month or the first business day following the 21st.  Notices will state outstanding amount is due before the 1st of the following month.
• If payment has not been received before the 1st of the following month a $10.00 late charge will be applied to delinquent accounts with an outstanding amount of more than $10.00 and a letter will be sent via first class mail stating account is past due and water service will be terminated on the 2nd Tuesday of the month if payment has not been received before the 2nd Tuesday of the month.    
• If payment has not been received before the 2nd Tuesday of the month a $25.00 disconnect fee will be added to their account and water will be shut off.  
• If service is disconnected there will be a $25.00 reconnect fee. 
• Upon payment of past due amount, late fee, late charge, disconnection fee and reconnect fee water service will be restored.  
• If the City receives a return check for utility payment, water will be shut off immediately, the reconnect & return check charges will apply.  
• The City participates with the State of Kansas Set Off Program in order to collect delinquent debts.  
• Bad debts are also turned over to the City’s legal counsel in order to collect amounts
• Return check charge is $30.  

Construction Fees - The following charges are for connecting to the city's water and sewer mains, this is for new construction, these fees are non-refundable. 

• New construction fee for water is $2000.00 plus any additional charges for materials.  
• New construction fee for sewer is $1000.00 plus any additional charges for materials.
